The lock held and the knife is unchanged. I've spine-whacked it on the back of a steel folding chair and done a few heavy stabs into solid wood.

I have done some rude lock testing with my Hogue resently and it's held up very well.
Houge droppoint update#
Just wanted to add a smal update without bumping the thread. I hope to try a g10 4 inch drop-point soon and expect it to be a very near to perfect knife for me. It has zero felt blade-play, but if you push the lock in the blade swings totally free. The knife came back smoother than I sent it too. I took mine apart and lost a small spring located beneath the saftey button (it's very, very small), and Hogue fixed it happily and promptly. (I've got mine tight, but still usable manually with effort).

Of course, this wont work if you tighen it down. Also, I'm not sure if it's common knowledge, but while the blade is closed you can push the safety up to a half-cocked type possition then when you open the knife it activates. If you don't like it, you can tighten it down and not worry about it. The saftey is a nice feature in my opinion. The pocket-clip is very wide, but this can be fixed on a grinder. I'm not sure if this aluminium is softer than others, I know aluminum is soft in general, but I definately recommend against using it as a hammer. I will say that I managed to dent the aluminium by hammering a couple plastic push pins. I've yet to see a regrind done to one of these but it would be sweet.
Houge droppoint full#
It's not a thin full flat grind, so if that's what you like, this probably isn't for you. Opening smoothness and lock-up of a Sebenza,Įase of use and speed of a Benchmade Axis. There aren't many Benchmades or Spydercos I'd rather have. I've been carrying a 3.5 inch aluminium tanto version of this knife for about a month now, and it's quickly become one of my favorite knives of all time, and without a doubt, an amazing value.
